A Ward Round Code of Conduct had been developed to protect the rights of patients. This has been adopted by the Central & North West London Hospital Trust. Religion and mental health had also been discussed. The Federation (founded 1948) meets every two years and now has service-users on the board.

New date for Justice for Patients conference 30 May at City Hall to be confirmed.

The next issue of Asylum magazine is to be dedicated to Pete Shaughnessy. Mental Health Media has carried an article and a commemorative event will be held at the Foundry. Current issues of Asylum were available at this meeting.

Dave Harper asked if there were any objection to posting the CMHF minutes on the critical minded section of the psychminded.co.uk website. There were no objections.

Janet announced that the Maudsley debate had clashed with this meeting - topic was The Thin Blue Line: treatment or punishment. Dave Harper has asked the Maudsley to supply dates of future debates to avoid clashing again. Robert reminded everyone that the debates were free.

Janet handed round a paper on behalf of the planning group with suggested topics for future meetings.

Robin announced Chipmunka Publishing (www.chipmunkapublishing.com) was looking for manuscripts - successful publishing house run by Jason Pegler who is a writer and survivor.

Audrey was surprised to be contacted by Survivors Speak Out. She had thought they no longer existed. Robin said they no longer had government funding but the late Richard Sutton had left them a legacy and they continued to meet at the Diorama Centre. They were a national organisation created to represent the user voice countrywide. Anyone interested should contact Robin on 0208 964 2873 (ansaphone).
