psychology services, professionals trying to make a difference,
researchers determined to support progressive change - to
discuss and relaunch the radical network Psychology Politics
Resistance and to forge campaigning links with Asylum a
magazine of democratic psychiatry for over a decade and now a
new voice for PPR and other activist groups. Psychology
Politics Resistance: Asylum in the 21st Century will be an
opportunity to reflect and regroup.

Psychology Politics Resistance (PPR) is a network of people - both
psychologists and non-psychologists - who are prepared to oppose the
abusive uses of psychology. This means challenging the ideas within
psychology that lead to oppressive practices, supporting those who are
on the receiving end, and using psychological knowledge positively to
help those engaged in struggles for social justice. PPR was founded in
July 1994, and has held three 'Networks Festivals' which brought
together groups and individuals already campaigning around a variety of
issues. Though based mainly in Britain, PPR has members across the
world. Six issues of PPR NEWS have been published, and now Asylum is
operating as our networking newsletter. To join, to help our work, please
